She would seek restraints on state energy siting decisions to give communities more input, citing the strong, local opposition to the proposed Northern Pass project to deliver Hydro Quebec power over transmission lines through the state to the New England power grid.

“I’m not sure that local communities have as much input into the process as I think they should,” she said. “This (siting) group has generally approved all the projects that come before it.”

An alternative Northern Pass route would benefit businesses and taxpayers if the utility owners agreed to bury the power lines underground and along the state right of way, she said.
