CLASSE blocks off Hydro-Québec offices
Hundreds of people blocked the entrance of Hydro-Québec’s office in downtown Montreal on Wednesday afternoon in a protest that was deemed illegal under Bill 78.
CLASSE, Quebec’s more militant student association, urged students to join its members in Square Phillips to protest against capitalism and Jean Charest’s Liberal government.
Students were soon chased away by about 50 riot police officers and headed west on Sainte-Catherine Street where the demonstration slowly dwindled to a halt after passing through Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles.
