HARTFORD — The ranking Republican senator on the legislature’s energy committee has quit the panel to take a job with Connecticut Light & Power.

The Hartford Courant reports that Connecticut’s ethics agency says Sen. Kevin Witkos of Canton may work for the utility, but must not do anything that might be considered lobbying. He must avoid contact with state officials that could be considered an attempt to influence a state agency’s decisions or policies.
